Hello friends, and I do call you friends because you are the very dear ones who keep my creative life ticking along through your financial support.
As you know I’m currently leaning into what I’m calling ‘My Jane Austen Year’. So far this appears to involve a good deal of withdrawal, boredom at times, anxiety at feeling the loss of online engagement from myself but also a clarity and a sparkling of new opportunities to enter into the truer connection I’m craving.
So I’ve got to thinking, that for those of you among my financial supporters who might like it, I’d love to exchange an occasional card or note with you. Letter writing is already one of my loves and it gives me great delight to use my fountain pen and dipping ink and seal my notes with a ruby red wax seal. I even found a blotter recently, thus completing the ritual.
It’s also one of the forgotten joys of life to receive a handwritten note through the mail. There’s also something deeply grounding and wholesome in taking that walk to the post box and sending your little crafted words through the small opening. A smile usually comes after this as I think of the recipient’s surprise the other end and the joy at their special delivery.
It really is so lovely to be thought of, to know that someone out there is taking the time and effort to sit, to ponder and craft words, to share their thoughts with you. The card selection is also part of the practice; which aesthetic to suit the mood, the occasion or personality?
I can’t promise a constant back and forth between us as there are many of you and mostly overseas but I’d love to send you a heartfelt, hand picked, hand written note every once in a while if you’d like to take me up on the offer.
