“listening to the siren song of more, we are deaf to the still small voice waiting in our soul to whisper, “You’re enough.”
Hello my friends and welcome to my check-in for week six of The Artist’s Way. I have called this Eyeing With Caution The Message of Abundance, and apologies if I sound a little bit lacklustre or flat, I have got a cold and so I might not sound my normal sparkly self, but it's not because I'm not enthusiastic or excited about this week’s progress because I very much am and had a big breakthrough this week, so let us begin.
Having spent my spiritually formative years in a Word of Faith prosperity driven cult I had some reservations going into this chapter, I really didn't want to have to throw the book in the bin! Anything that smacks of ‘name it and claim it’ or law of attraction I will steer clear of by a country mile. This was a ‘eat the meat and spit out the bones’ chapter. Thankfully, Julia survived and so did the book!
While there is some language in here which presents as New Age and at times some conflicting messages from Julia as to what true abundance equates to, I found this chapter helped facilitate a needful shift in my mindset about what God desires for me.
I did have beef with much of the content on Page 106 and the quotes attached to it. One such quote claims money is God in action, I firmly disagree with this statement and could insert countless other descriptors chief of which to my mind would be love, Love is God in action. You can probably think of a few also.
That aside, I found the majority of the content helpful in shifting my mindset on God’s willingness to provide for me. I went back and referenced the material more than once this week and also dove a bit deeper into the tasks. The MP (Morning Pages) as always are the game changer in working the process and consolidating the point.
Something I increased this week was the jotting down of thoughts or questions the night before ready to give them attention the next morning in MP. I’d go to bed with the questions there and wonder if the answers would come the next day, they often did.
I’ll now take you through the journey of my week as it unfolded in chronological order from my MP. The conversation you will hear or read is the shape of my process through the MP, my self-talk and that with God.
